Showcasing one of the most impressive commercial uses of Kennedy’s recycled timber, the refurbished Telstra One Building dials up the style across Brisbane’s city skyline.

Officially opened by then Premier Anna Bligh and Telstra Chief Executive Officer Mr David Thodey, this multimillion dollar project houses the Queensland headquarters of Australia’s leading telecommunications company.

With 22 doors of specially dedicated space, the architect’s intention was to create a more open and collaborative culture for Brisbane’s Telstra team. And Kennedy’s recycled Blackbutt takes centre stage as part of this contemporary blueprint.

Located at 275 George Street, this state of the art structure invokes a sense of style coupled with innovative functionality. Lining the internal walls and staircases, Kennedy’s timber highlights the versatility of recycled building products within a modern, commercial setting.

A focal point upon entry, the inspiring staircases capture your attention instantly. Designed by Arden Architectural Staircases, the ascending steps demonstrate the incredible character, colour and grain of Kennedy’s recycled Blackbutt.

Calling on Queensland companies to contribute was a key initiative of the project. “We have engaged a number of local businesses,” said Telstra CEO Mr Thodey.

Proud to be a nationally recognised, Queensland based company, Kennedy’s recycled products have again exceeded client expectations. Without compromising on quality, these eco friendly timbers shine in their new city central home.

Further testament to its environmental credentials, the Telstra One building has been awarded a five star green rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

Key contributors involved in the development of Telstra’s new Queensland headquarters included Bovis Lend Lease, United Group Services, Atlantis, Brisbane architects PDT, Arden Architectural Staircases and Kennedy’s Timbers.
